The Little School program was established as a ministry of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in 1962. We are a co-educational, play-based preschool dedicated to serving children aged two to five. Our program is licensed by the State of Louisiana and proudly affiliated with the National Association of Episcopal Schools.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
At The Little School, we believe that children learn best through hands-on experiences in a stimulating and nurturing environment. Our child-centered, developmentally appropriate program encourages exploration as a cornerstone of learning.
Our approach focuses on educating the “whole child,” fostering growth in perceptual abilities, communication skills, and both gross and fine motor skills, while also promoting independence and responsibility. Our primary goal is to cultivate a love of learning in each child, preparing them intellectually and emotionally for future academic success.
For parents, we aim to build a strong partnership through clear communication, making you an integral part of our program. For children, we strive to provide a joyful and enriching first school experience, one that inspires a lifelong passion for learning.
OUR EDUCATORS
At The Little School, each classroom is led by two highly experienced and dedicated lead teachers. Our educators possess extensive knowledge and a deep passion for early childhood education. They create nurturing and developmentally appropriate environments that foster exploration, play, interaction, and joy, while providing a diverse range of materials and sufficient time for discovery. All our teachers actively engage in annual professional development, health and safety training, and maintain current CPR certifications, ensuring the highest standards of care and education.
